Covering the Cape, Yarmouth-Dennis, 2010

Last stop on the dusty trail is Yarmouth-Dennis.

Dusty Robinson, OF (Fresno State)

Plus, plus raw wood power. Missed most of Cape season with wrist injury. Solid and playable arm and defender in left field.  Reminds me of Mike Olt in 2009 — a guy who came off a wrist injury in spring to post fringe Cape stats, followed with a monster college year, and got drafted good off power potential.

Tyler Hanover, 2B (LSU)

In my third look at him, Cape 2009 and Spring 2010, I felt he improved offensively. Obviously not a very physically imposing guy, but turning himself into a solid slap hitter. Singles hitter, plus defender at second, average range, accurate arm. A coach’s ballplayer, he’s going to have to be that guy who plays above his tools to take it to the big leagues. Infield versatility would add value in coming years.

Brett Mooneyham, LHP (Stanford)

Missed him in the Cape, but his summer was clearly better than his spring was, when I saw him struggle.

Tanner Poppe, RHP (Kansas)

Did not see. Bummer.
